RECENT EVENTS

LUCIA 2010

The Lucia service and party took place at St Andrews Church in Newcastle on Saturday 10th December. The IKEA Julmiddag was on the previous Thursday and the excellent buffet provided by IKEA staff was enjoyed by all. No pictures as yet.

JULMIDDAG 2011

The annual Julmiddag at IKEA wa as usaul well attended and the buffet provided by IKEA was enjoyed by all.

TALK ON OTTERBURN TRAINING AREA OCTOBER 2011

In October there was a talk on the Otterburn Training Area at the Martin Luther Church in Newcastle.

PATRON'S EVENING AND WELCOME PARTY SEPTEMBER 2011

In September our Patron Kate Adie attended the Welcome Party.

RIVER TYNE CRUISE 2011

A cruise down the River Tyne to South Shields.

CLEADON HILLS WALK 2011

This was a circular walk commencing at Souter Lighthouse and passing through Whitburn and on to Cleadon Hills, past the golf course and on to Marsden and ending again at Souter Lighthouse. The walk was enjoyed by all.

JULMIDDAG 2010

Our annual Christmas celebration at IKEA was very well attended as usual with a wonderful buffet provided.

WELCOME PARTY 2010

The Welcome Party took place at the Lit and Phil on Wednesday 29th September. Television presenter and author John Grundy was the guest speaker.

CRAYFISH PARTY 2010

In September 2010 IKEA Gateshead hosted a Crayfish Party where members had a most enjoyable evening.

CHOPWELL WOOD WALK 2010

Over a dozen members turned up on a pleasant day for a walk around Chopwell Wood. There was a quiz, the question sheets being pinned to trees along the route and each walking group was provided with a sheet on which to write their answers. There were prizes for the winners. Refreshments were taken afterwards in the Forestry Commission building.

CO SCAN VISIT TO SHETLANDS 2010

Several of our members visited the Shetlands in April in company with members from other Scandinavian Societies throughout Britain.

LUCIA 2009

Another well attended event held at Chester-le-Street with a party afterwards.

JULMIDDAG 2009

This was a really well attended evening. IKEA had arranged a special Scandinavian buffet and we all enjoyed the food and the get-together.

WELCOME PARTY 2009

This years Welcome Party was held in the Mining Institute next to the Lit. and Phil. Ingelise showed a short slideshow which reminded members of events we had held in the past. Ditte provided a buffet for us and all had a good time.
